..Good Morning.
..Today rain will be the main weather feature.
..Sub Tropical moisture will continue to flow across all of SoCal today and tomorrow. This is from a weak Atmospheric River (AR), that is currently located from Hawaii to the West Coast. Precipital Water (PWAT) levels are running ~1.00″ this morning and are expected to richen up to ~1.25-1.50″ later today and overnight before the flow moves South tomorrow afternoon. We will have a couple of atmospheric waves move through the flow tonight and tomorrow morning, this is when the heaviest showers will occur. The Trough axis will move through early Monday morning then clearing will begin.
..So we will continue to have light to moderate rain showers across the area through tomorrow night. Rainfall totals are estimated to be from 1.00″-2.00″ with the highest amounts along the South and or West facing slopes. Due to the source of the flow from across the Central Eastern Pacific, temperatures will continue to be warm, with the freezing levels quite high. Currently the snow levels are running around 10k’. This will be the case through tomorrow afternoon. If there is any moisture around tomorrow night, the freezing levels will lower to around the 6600′ level and Big Bear and Green Valley Lake could, see some light snowfall. Above the 8000′ level 1-3″ of snow will be possible by Monday morning.
..Now for the good news, next week a pattern change is in the works.
..Monday we will begin to clear out as a Ridge of High pressure builds in over SoCal. Temperatures will warm up as dry air moves in from the Great Basin. Tuesday will be another nice day as well.
..Wednesday, another weak wave will pass over SoCal with some daytime cooling expected along with a few clouds. Then, as that Trough moves out, a much stronger Ridge of High pressure will develop along the West Coast bringing in substantial warming through the weekend. Temperatures will be from 5-10* above normal for this time of year by the Friday and through the weekend. RC*
