TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST
..Good Morning.
RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 AM PST WEDNESDAY FOR STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FOR ALL MOUNTAIN AREAS, THE INLAND EMPIRE, INLAND ORANGE COUNTY AND SAN DIEGO COUNTY VALLEYS. WINDS.. Northeast and East winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts in the valleys and inland Orange County of 35 to 50 mph. Local gusts up to 60 mph possible in eastern portions of the San Diego valleys Tuesday. Wind gusts 50 to 65 mph in the mountains and passes. Isolated gusts to 70 mph possible on Tuesday in wind prone
locations in the mountains. Winds will be strongest in East-West oriented passes, such as the San Gorgonio Pass and San Diego County mountains and foothills. RELATIVE HUMIDITY…As low as 5 to 10 percent.
..This morning we have clear skies with a few high clouds. Winds are picking up from the Northeast and will continue to strengthen today.
..A 1036mb area of High Pressure centered over Southern Idaho, and Northern Nevada along with 1020mb pressure over SoCal, will create a fairly strong Offshore pressure gradient for the next 48hours across SoCal. There will be strong and gusty NE winds beginning later today across most of SoCal.
..These winds will develop and strengthen later today. NE winds are expected to be strongest overnight tonight and Tuesday before tapering off Wednesday.
..The Center of the High pressure area will slowly move East becoming centered over the Four Corners States by Wednesday. This will relax the Pressure Gradient across SoCal by Wednesday thus reducing the strength of the winds.
..Thursday a trough of Low pressure will drop South and move Inland across the Great Basin then towards Las Vegas before heading East.
..Friday we will be under a weak transitory Ridge, then another Trough passes by on Saturday.
..This troughing pattern will be with us for the next seven to ten days with alternating Troughs and areas of High pressure. So we will continue to see winds alternating winds from the West, then from the East to Northeast.
..LOOKING AHEAD:
..At this time, there is no sight of rain for SoCal during the next five days. RC
