TODAY’S LATEST SATELLITE PICTURES
TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST
..Good morning. Happy Birthday Michael.
..So for today, as the area of Low pressure slowly fades away and heads East, we will continue to see scattered rain and snow showers. Looking at the Radar this morning, I’m not seeing any rain squalls or bands of showers heading our way. So we should only see occasional light showers today as the system passes by. The freezing level has risen a little to ~5000′ and will stay there all day today. Local snow reports from around the area were: Crestline at my location-1.00″, Running Springs-3.25″, Twin Peaks 5″, Big Bear 6″.
..LOOKING AHEAD:
..All of this system will slowly clear out by tomorrow, leaving a pretty nice break ahead. As it looks now, we will have a slow warming trend through Monday. There will be gusty winds as the current system leaves the area. Especially along the foothills, and along the local Ridges. We could see gusts from 20-40mph later tonight and Friday. Then calming down for Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures for the weekend will be in the upper 40s to maybe 50* for the elevations from 4500′-6000′. Above 6000′, temperatures will be a little cooler, running in the low to mid 40s. We should see plenty of sunshine for the next few days as a more Zonal flow aloft and High pressure to our Northwest will keep us out of the storm track until Tuesday. This will give us a period of drying out that is much needed before the next system arrives.
..The Crystal Ball Outlook:
..After a fairly nice weekend, another storm will begin to affect our area Tuesday. This will be another cold system with more snow for our area starting on Tuesday the 28th lasting into Wednesday the 29th. More snow is expected with this system as low as the 3500′ level. Then it looks like we will have a break from any more storms for at least a week. Looking out long range this morning, the next possible system that may affect our area will be ~the 5th of April. So that’s it for today. Thank you for visiting my weather page, and thanks for all of your support. Be safe out there. RC*
