Good Morning.
..Northern California above the San Francisco Bay area is having a rough day today. Flooding along several rivers has prompted evacuation orders in several coastal areas especially along the Russian River. Prayers and thoughts for those affected.
..Here, we will have increasing clouds today as the system affecting the Northern Part of California will slowly slide South, weakening as it does. The AR that has been nearly stationary in NorCal will dissipate as the system slides South toward our area. Rain showers will be possible locally by this evening but will be light at best. Rainfall estimates for the local area are from .10-.50″ with high snow level at or about 7500′. Increasing Fog, and clouds will be the forecast today with a little cooler temps. Gusty SW winds can be expected as the storm moves closer to the SoCal region as well.
..Thursday morning we will still have a chance for showers locally as the system winds down. The bulk of this storm will move inland from around the Point Conception area, and North from there. So for the local area we will be on the bottom of the trough with only scattered showers expected for Wednesday night and Thursday. Partly cloudy skies with occasional showers will turn into mostly clear skies by the afternoon hours Thursday.
..For Friday, we should see plenty of Sun before the next system arrives for Saturday. The storm for Saturday will have better moisture associated with it as it looks now. Rainfall estimates are running from .50-1.00″ of rain below the 8000′ level. Snow levels will again be very high as this is another warm system from off of the Pacific. Scattered showers will continue into Sunday morning quickly tapering off in the morning.
..The next storm system that will affect our area will arrive around Wednesday of next week. As it looks this morning, this appears to have a good moisture feed and could produce a wetting rain for the region. However, this is also a warm system from the South that will bring high snow levels again. More on that later.
..Also, thank you to those of you who have donated to this website as that really helps offset the costs of running the website and its associated subscription fees, equipment maintenance, and tech fees.
