TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..We have clear skies again today with light Fog in the Valley that will burn off by later this morning.
..Looks like we have finally broken out of the wet pattern that has been with us for some time. A more typical June pattern is setting up and will become quite evident by the middle of next week.
..For today, we can expect clear skies with temperatures to warm a few degrees from yesterday’s.
..An upper level Low currently over NORCAL will slowly move South into the SoCal region over the next 24 hours. This will bring a few cumulus clouds to the area along with a chance for an afternoon Thunderstorm mainly to the Big Bear area for Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler as well as the center of the closed Low will be over SoCal helping to increase the onshore flow and pushing the marine layer Inland for the weekend. The weekend will still be very nice weather wise.
..The closed Low will open up into a Trough Monday and remain over the SoCal region as a weak Trough. Temperatures will slowly rise through the week as the Trough moves East and High pressure moves over SoCal by Thursday. After that, we will be under a dome of High pressure and a Zonal flow that will bring typical June weather through the middle of the month. Sorry I’m running late today we had to make trip up North yesterday for family stuff and got home late.
..That’s it for now. Thank you for joining me @lakegregoryweather.com . If T-Storms do develop I will post more info on my FB Page “Lake Gregory Weather Group” including Radar loops and any local Warnings if they occur. *RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..This morning we have clear skies across the area as well as in the Valley, so no weather related driving issues for today.
..Today and through the weekend we will have nice weather. All of California is clear this morning except some coastal fog in the OC and San diego areas.
Today and tomorrow should be our warmest days before an upper level area of Low pressure moves over SoCal. The only change expected is a return of the possibility of scattered Thunderstorm activity for the Desert and mountains areas toward the Big Bear area for the weekend.
..On the long range outlook, it’s looking like High pressure will settle in for the middle to end of next week. Warmer temperatures and June like weather with morning fog and low clouds for the Valley.
..That’s it for now.

Good Morning.
..This morning we have clear skies across the mountain and in the Valley. No weather related driving hazards at this time.
..Today we will start the day with clear skies. Later this morning and through the afternoon hours, we will see cumulus clouds build across the local area. A short wave will pass through early this afternoon giving a boost of energy to the clouds. As a result, there will be a possibility of Thunderstorms, Rain, and or Hail, to the local mountains, especially toward the Big Bear and Running Springs areas. Yesterday, Arrowbear received .04″ of rain from a Hail storm that passed through in the early afternoon hours as did Running Springs.
..The CAPE values will be running from ~500-632 J/kg from 2-5pm in Crestline, and from 400-800Jkg in Big Bear. The higher the number the better chance for a T/Storm. This will quickly clear out by 5-6pm tonight.
..Thursday and Friday will be mostly clear, and warmer, with Big Bear continuing to have a chance for T/Storms Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will slowly rise through Friday then slightly cooling Saturday and Sunday.
..For the weekend, an area of Low pressure will slowly move South from the Pac/NW toward SoCal. This will bring an increased chance for a few scattered showers and or Thunderstorms once again to the SoCal region. This Low will hang around over SoCal through the weekend and into the first part of next week with a continued possibility of a scattered shower, or T/Storms locally. At this time, it looks like partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 60s for Saturday and Sunday.
..On the long range outlook, it’s looking like High pressure will settle in for the middle to end of next week. Warmer temperatures and June like weather with morning fog and low clouds for the Valley.
..That’s it for now.

Today we have clear skies including in the Valley. Currently there is a weak NE flow across the area that is running from ~5000′ and above. Below that there is a Westerly flow to the surface. As the area of Low pressure that visited us Sunday slowly continues to move East, we will loose the Northerly flow aloft.
..Later today, another short wave will move through SoCal bringing a chance for a Thunderstorm to the Inland Mountain areas late this afternoon. The chances are low but it’s worth mentioning. This will be the case again tomorrow afternoon as another short wave moves through once again.
..Temperatures will be on the rise through the weekend as we slowly transition to more typical late May and early June weather patterns. Temperatures will peak Thursday locally then level out for a few days as a closed Low moves through SoCal on Friday and Saturday, on it’s way to off of the Northern Baja Region.
..Then for Sunday through next Tuesday, we may see Tropical Moisture being pushed up from the low as it sits off of Baja into SoCal along with warmer temperatures. Additionally there will be a chance for Thunderstorms to move through the area as well due to the Tropical Moisture moving up from the Southwest. This is a little far out on the forecast but that’s how it looks now.
..Fog will likely return to the Valley areas during the mornings starting tomorrow as is typical for this time of year. But it will burn off by late morning each day. Locally we will have mostly clear skies except for afternoon cumulus clouds that may build into towering cumulus by late afternoon each day.
..That’s it for now.

Remembering Veterans today.
..After a good rain yesterday, possibly the last for the Season, we will turn a corner today in our weather pattern.
..Clearing skies with decreasing winds with a slight chance for a morning shower will be the days forecast. This morning FOG is shrouding parts of the Rim and the front side of the mountain making for a slow commute. Don’t forget to use your headlights so others can see you!
..This will all clear out by later this morning as the storm that brought rain here yesterday is now centered over the Las Vegas region. As this area of Low pressure moves East today, clearing skies will be the result locally, along with a slow warming trend that will last through the week ahead.
..However, we will have afternoon cumulus clouds develop as a couple of short waves work through the area Tuesday and Wednesday. During peak heating Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be a chance for localized Thunderstorms along the Ridges mostly toward the Big Bear area. So the skies won’t be completely clear but we will have plenty of sun to help warm things up. Temperatures will return to normal by Thursday for our area with highs expected to be in the upper 60s to low 70s continuing through the weekend.
..The Long Range outlook is for a warmer weather pattern and possibly High pressure to develop over the West which will lead to continued warming in all of SoCal and a more typical weather pattern for this time of year. RC*

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..Today we can expect rain showers across the area. The first wave of this system will be warm with the freezing level currently running at~ 7500′. GVL is as of 8am, at 34* at 7000′. Light rain showers will continue throughout the day today below 6500′ where it is currently clear above that elevation. Gusty winds will be with us today along with a Winter Storm Watch above the 5500′ level by Monday morning.
..Phase two of this system will arrive later this afternoon. This second part will be where the cold air is and snow levels will lower to ~6500-7000′ by 5pm then to ~5000-5500′ by 5am Monday morning as the end of this storm passes through. Rainfall amounts will vary significantly across the area. Along the Rim from 1.00-2.00″ will be likely due to Orographic lift, where away from the Rim .25-.75″ will be more likely. Such as the North side of Arrowhead. Snowfall amounts will also vary as Running Springs can expect from 0-2″ of snow and Big Bear about the same. GVL is a little higher and will see snow showers begin sooner and may receive up to 2-3″ by tomorrow morning.
..After this system passes through Monday, a pattern change will begin to develop. The Long Wave Trough that has sat over the Western Region producing waves of showers over the West, will begin to slowly move East. This will allow a weak but slowly strengthening Ridge of High pressure to move in from the West in the coming days. Clear skies and warming temperatures will return us to a more normal weather pattern for this time of year. RC*

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Today we will start the day with clear skies. A short wave Trough will move through the area later today which will bring some clouds to the area, and a strengthening onshore flow. A Surface Low is offshore currently and will move through to our South today helping to reinforce the short wave with moisture. Low clouds and fog will develop later this afternoon along the Coastal areas moving Inland by tonight.
..SW winds will pick up across the area tonight a quick moving area of Low pressure now to North will bring rain and higher elevation snow Sunday into early Monday morning. Rain will begin Sunday morning or early afternoon with the snow levels at or about 7500′. Then as the center of the cold core Low moves through around midnight Sunday night, the snow levels will lower to between 5500′-6300′. 1-3″ of snow is expected for the GVL, Big Bear, Twin Peaks, and Running Springs areas. Rainfall amounts for the lower elevations will run from .50-.75″ except in the upslope areas due to Orographic lift where .75-1.25″ will be possible.
..All of this will move out by Monday early afternoon when we will begin a warm up with mostly clear skies through the work week ahead.
..Have a safe Holiday weekend. We will have a variety of weather over the four day weekend so plan accordingly. *RC

..CLEAR skies are everywhere this morning! No FOG along or below the Rim!
..The general trend is the West will remain under an upper level long wave Trough through the next five days.

We may see some cumulus clouds this afternoon build over the local ridges but no rain is expected in the two day forecast. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s to low 60s with overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s below 6300′ Above that, Highs will be in the 50s during the day and in the low to mid 30s at night. TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Fog and clouds continue to cover the region. Today we will be on the outer bands of clouds from an area of Low pressure that is centered over Nevada this morning. There will be a chance for more rain showers and snow flurries at the higher elevations above the 6000′ level from a couple waves that will be passing over SoCal for most of the day. Rainfall/Snowfall amounts are not expected to be significant. For Running Springs, Green Valley Lake, and Big Bear, under 1″ of snow accumulations is likely. Rainfall amounts for the rest of the area should be under .25″. Temperatures will remain cool today with Highs in the low to mid 40s below 5000′ and from the low to mid 30s above 6000′. The best chance for showers will be from noon to 6pm today.
..Friday will be a clearing out day weather wise as the area of Low pressure will move Northeast and out of the area. That will be replaced by warmer weather locally and mostly clear skies through Saturday afternoon as we will be under a weak Ridge of High pressure.
..Sunday we will have another chance for showers locally as another weak system arrives. This storm will be weak and should not produce much rainfall for the local area. As it looks this morning, Sunday’s storm should be clearing out by late Sunday night, leaving Monday with decent weather for the Holiday.
..After that, it looks like High pressure will build into the region with mostly clear skies and a warming trend through all of next week. Finally!

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..We continue to be under a Long Wave Trough that will bring rain, snow, and gusty winds to the area as well as a chance For a Thunderstorm this afternoon.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued by the NWS for our area through midnight tonight.
..This morning clouds and Fog are spread along the front of the mountain as well as some of the interior areas (North of the Rim) below 6000′. These will increase as the day wears on with rain beginning by early this afternoon. The center of the Low will pass over SoCal later today and this is when we will have a chance for a T-Storm. Cold air associated with this system will bring the possibility of snow to the local mountain areas above the 5000-5500′ level. 1-2″ can be expected from 5000-6000′ and 2-5″ above the 6500′ level by tomorrow morning. Sorry if you planted your garden already.
..Thursday we will begin to clear out by late morning with a slow warm up for the next couple of days. Friday and most of Saturday should be pretty nice with increasing clouds and Fog by Saturday evening.
..The next system will arrive for Sunday morning through Monday, with more rain for our area. The snow or freezing levels are expected to be higher for this next system Sunday/Monday, so as it looks now, this should bring rain only except for the highest elevations. At this time the system for Sunday.Monday looks pretty weak with only a slight chance for measurable rain. Then after this system passes, we may be in for a break from these systems coming through SoCal. However it doesn’t look like any significant warm up is in the near future.
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
