TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..As we close out April, if you can believe that already, we will leave it behind with foggy skies and cool temperatures. Light winds will accompany the departing April, as yesterday’s system moves East. Today there will be some clearing at the higher elevations as it looks now but the Marine layer is so thick that I don’t expect to see very much sun below the 5500′ level today. Drizzle or even a light shower can be expected along the Rim today and in the Valley. A long wave Trough in the upper level flow will help to reinforce the Marine layer through at least tomorrow morning locally. Then we will slowly clear out and slowly warm up through Saturday before we return to another chance for a couple days of wet weather, Sunday through Tuesday.
..Yesterday’s weather brought light rainfall amounts to the area with Crestline receiving a total of .43″, Waterman canyon-.63″, Rim Forest-.21″ and Running Springs reported-.05″, San Bernardino -.23″. So even though this was not a big rainmaker, it was nice to settle down some of the pollen.
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..This morning we have rain across the whole area. Totals have been mostly light with anywhere from a trace in Big bear to .20″ in Upper Waterman Canyon. Foggy conditions are along the Rim this morning as well as occasional gusty winds from the SW.
..Today there will be a 60% chance for rain throughout the mountain area. There will also be a weak chance for a Thunderstorm as the closed Low moves across SoCal and heads East. Big Bear, and the Desert areas to our North and East, will see the best chances for Thunderstorms today. Early this morning, Lightning was showing up on the sat pics North of Point Conception and East from there as well as to our East over the Barstow and some of the upper Desert region.
.. All of this will move out by later tonight with clearing skies for tomorrow. The chances for rain will taper off after 5pm today with only a slight chance for overnight locally. Total rainfall estimates for the mountain regions will run from .20″ to .50″. Some areas may receive additional rainfall totals if a Thunderstorm does materialize. As always, be aware of your surroundings as a Thunderstorm can produce heavy rain and runoff in the local creeks and streams.
..Tuesday we will see mostly clear skies with a warming trend beginning through the work week ahead. Temperatures will reach into the mid 60s by mid week before the next area of Low pressure arrives Saturday night.
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning. Lots of coffee..
..Today we will start the day with Fog in the Valley and mostly clear skies above the 3000′ level, with light and variable winds, and comfortable temperatures. We should see some cooling today by 3-5* from yesterday’s daytime highs.
..Later today, we will begin to see the effects of an area of Low pressure that is currently to our West over the Pacific Ocean. As this system moves closer to SoCal, we will have increasing upper level clouds, a deepening Marine layer, and gusty SW winds. There will be a small chance for rain shower and or a T-Storm beginning late this afternoon increasing overnight through Monday afternoon (500-900Jkg). This will be as the Low passes directly over SoCal. Rain showers will be possible through most of Monday, with accumulations of .25-.75″. The greatest amounts of rainfall will be in the areas affected by any Thunderstorms that may develop. As always, Hail and or heavy downpours, along with outflow wind gusts, will be a possibility in the areas where a T-Storm may develop. So be prepared for driving issues in those areas.
If you are outdoors during a T-Storm, take appropriate precautions. Go indoors, or seek shelter until the storm passes, and stay away from stream beds as flash flooding is always a possibility.
..Monday we should have mostly cloudy skies with showers likely at times. Fog will also be a possibility along the Rim. Temperatures will cool down quite a bit for Monday then slowly begin to warm up for Tuesday through Friday as High pressure slowly builds along the West Coast.
..Next weekend we could see another weak system pass through the area bringing another chance for showers.
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..As we begin the weekend, There will be few changes that will affect the weather over the next few days. First off, temperatures will begin to cool today through Tuesday. Onshore flow will be on the increase along with a deeper Marine layer across all of SoCal’s Inland areas.
..This morning the Marine layer is up against the bottom of the hill with a depth of around 1500-2000′ as of 6am.
..An area of High pressure that has brought very nice weather to the IE for the last several days will move out and be replaced by a Cutoff Low that is currently about 600 miles to our West. As this area of Low pressure gets closer to SoCal, gusty SW winds will pick up along with increasing clouds through Monday.
..Temperatures today should be around 5-8* cooler than yesterday. Tomorrow morning we could see the Marine layer spilling over the Rim during the morning hours. This will again help to bring temperatures down by a few more degrees for Sunday.
..By Sunday afternoon, the effects of the Cutoff Low will bring a chance for a shower over the local mountains lasting through Monday afternoon. As of this morning the center of the Low looks like it will track a little further South, taking most of the energy to our South as well. However, the Low is still deepening as of this morning and will continue to do so through it’s arrival time early Monday morning.
..Wrap around moisture along with some convection is expected to bring a chance for Thunderstorms to the region.
..Big Bear will have the best chance locally. Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, will have a lesser chance, then Crestline will likely see a few showers with only a slight chance for a T-Storm.
.. In areas where T-Storms do develop, be aware of your surroundings as a brief heavy shower could quickly bring a flash flood to the local waterways, as the ground is still fairly saturated from the Winter rains.
..Long range, after the Cut Off Low passes through, we will slowly warm up as an area of High pressure will move over the area. The next possibility for a change will come around the 3rd of May when another weak Low will pass through the West.
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Today’s forecast will be much the same as yesterday. A few high clouds, light and variable winds and warm temperatures. But, change is on it’s way. For today and Saturday, we will continue to be under a slowly weakening Ridge of High pressure. Gusty winds will develop mostly in the late afternoon and evening hours, increasing through Monday.
..Along the Coastal areas, Fog and low clouds will increase as well over the next couple days eventually making it to the IE and along the Rim by Sunday. This morning, the Fog is being held close to the Coast. The IE is clear.
..Saturday a slow cooling trend will begin. Temperatures across the mountain will fall by around 3-6*, and for Sunday, a couple more degrees of cooling is expected. High clouds will thicken on Sunday as a Cold Core Cut Off Low approaches SoCal.
..By late Sunday afternoon, we will see a slight chance for a sprinkle or two. This is when things get tricky, Sunday night and Monday, we will be in the opportunity spot for Thunderstorms and or rain showers. We will be located in the Left front quadrant, or NE corner of the Cut Off Low at that time. CAPE, LI, and K index levels will be in the weak to moderate levels for Thunderstorm activity across the local area.
..Monday, we will have a thick cloud cover with a saturated air mass overhead. So Nancy, you should see the showers you have been asking for. Rainfall totals will be variable but I would expect at least .25″ to .50″. Due to the unstable air mass these estimates will vary by area. Big Bear as always will have the best chances for T-Storms. Snow levels will be around 9000′, but due to the unstable air mass, Hail could fall to the 6000′ level during Thunderstorm activity. Also, outflow winds from any T-Storms that do develop could gust from 20-40mph in localized areas.
.. Cold air aloft and warm air at the surface makes for a good match for T-Storms or convection on Monday. Then for Tuesday, a trailing Trough will move through helping to keep temperatures in check.
..After that Trough passes, we will begin another warm up through the weekend as High pressure returns to the West. Enjoy!
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..Clear skies and no weather related problems on the local HWY’s this morning, will make for an easy commute for those of you who have to go to work? For the rest of us, we will enjoy a beautiful day on the mountain with temperatures similar to yesterday’s. Light winds will help to stir things up a little, but not strong enough to push your deck furniture over the side, or your trash cans down the street.
..A slow cooling trend will begin today as High pressure over SoCal begins to weaken. We should still have a very nice weekend weather, but we will see increasing onshore flow will with Fog and low clouds moving into the Valley beginning tomorrow.
..Sunday a Cut Off Low will be getting close to SoCal helping to increase the Onshore flow, as well as thickening the Marine layer with ridge fog possible. Sunday night and Monday, we will have a chance for some rain across the area as the Cut Off Low passes right over SoCal. Thunderstorms may develop but it’s too far out to be sure of that at this time. So enjoy the great mountain weather as it’s going to change soon. We’re not quite done with our Winter Weather just yet but we’re getting close. Soon enough we’ll be using those Air Conditioners instead of the heater.Enjoy!!

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning. Happy Birthday Cory!!
..There’s not to much going on in the weather dept today or for the next couple of days. High pressure will be the main weather maker through Friday. Warm temperatures and mostly clear skies will be the forecast. Winds will be light and variable with some fog along the immediate Coastal zones. This morning there is light fog along the coast from Santa Barbara, South. Other than that, it’s clear across the whole region.
..The weekend has some changes coming as it looks this morning. A Cut Off Low from the South will move onshore into SoCal beginning Saturday or Sunday depending on what it feels like. You know those Cut Off Lows, they have a mind of their own, anyway, we will see some rain and maybe a few Thunderstorms either Sunday and or Monday from that. Then, beyond that, on the long range outlook, Crystal Ball territory, we may get into a wet pattern on and off through the first week of May.
.. Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning. It’s time for coffee and the morning weather.
..This morning we have clear skies across the area. Yesterday’s system that came through on time around 4pm, brought light rain and even a report of Hail in the Big Bear area, along with a few claps of Thunder has all moves East. Today and for the rest of the work week, clear skies and warmer temperatures will be the forecast. Gusty NE winds will be in the forecast through tomorrow morning as the Low moves East, and High pressure moves in. Temperatures will reach into the low to mid 70s across the area through Friday.
..Then another change is expected. A cut off Low will move into Southern California from the South. This will begin to affect SoCal, late Friday bringing cooler temperatures and a deeper marine layer that may push all the way to the local coastal slopes by Saturday morning. The Cut Off Low is expected to take a path right over SoCal late in the weekend. Sunday and Monday there will be a chance for light precipitation or drizzle along the Rim and front country.
..So there you go! just enough to finish a cup of Java! Have a great day and week ahead. That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com

TODAY’S LATEST SATELLITE PICTURES:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..I hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday yesterday.
..Today we will start the day with clear skies and no Fog along the Rim so far as of 5am. Temperatures for the area will be warming up today, and through the week, as High pressure builds across the region from the West. However, before we get to excited, there is one last dying swath of energy that will come through late this afternoon. Depending on how much heating we get today, we could see a weak band of showers or a Thunderstorm pass through around 4pm today. The Western edge of the Low pressure that has brought the cooling to the area over the weekend, will pass through late today. This will bring a chance for a shower or at least increasing clouds for the afternoon hours today. This will pass quickly and be gone by later tonight.
..Tuesday through Saturday, clear skies and much warmer temperatures will be the Forecast for all of SoCal except the immediate Coastal areas where fog and low clouds will likely remain through the period helping to keep temperatures there cool. Locally, we will have a North East flow across the area through tuesday then slowly becoming SW through the rest of the work week. Temperatures for the local areas will rise to the upper 60s above the 6300′ level and to the low 70s from the 4000-6000′ level.
..Now for the Crystal Ball Outlook, Next Friday an area of Low pressure will begin to affect the area. Temperatures will begin to cool as the Low approaches with winds increasing from the SW. By Saturday we will have increasing clouds and a chance for a rain shower by Sunday and or Monday. Then for mid week after that, another better chance as it looks this morning for the area as another deeper Low is on the long range outlook. So as we transition to warmer and more Spring or Summer like weather, we will still have a chance for random systems to make their way South to our area. The Dogwood trees have not bloomed yet which is a good sign that we are not done with Winter just yet.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning. Happy Easter!
For today, low clouds and fog will hang around most of the day below the 6000′ level. An area of low pressure will move through the Inland portion of SoCal today which will help to keep the fog and clouds in place locally. Temperatures today will be on the cool side with daytime highs in the 50s.
..Tomorrow the area of Low pressure will be located in Arizona. Winds will be from the NE tomorrow as we will be on the back side of the departing Low. However, temperatures will begin their trend upward as High pressure begins to take over.
..By Wednesday High pressure will be our dominate weather feature with temperatures rising to above average for the IE and mountain areas. This trend will last through the work week before another change takes shape for the weekend.
..Next weekend we will have another chance for a shower as a weak area of Low pressure moves into the SoCal region.
..So overall, we will continue this roller coaster type weather pattern as the procession of Highs and Lows continue to pass through SoCal. The longer range Crystal Ball outlook for our area is in favor of a couple of more well defined weather systems for our area during the month of April. So keep those umbrellas handy and maybe the snow shovel not to far away either. Happy Easter.
..That’s it for today.
RC
