TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..Ahh, what a beautiful morning! Spring has sprung. Today we will continue to have sunny skies and light gusty winds. Temperatures will be warming right up with highs today in the 60s for most all of the mountain communities. The Valley will warm to the low to mid 80s! Offshore flow will continue today but will end early tomorrow morning.
..An area of Low pressure will arrive to our North bringing more rain the the Pac-NW late Monday and Tuesday there. Here we will see increasing clouds Tuesday afternoon with a chance for light sprinkles Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. We will be on the lower end of the Trough of Low pressure at that time.
..Wednesday and Thursday, a Transitory Ridge of High pressure will move over the West bringing sun and clearing skies to SoCal. However, temperatures will be slow to rebound.
..Friday and Saturday we will have another chance for a shower as another system works its way through the Pac-NW.
..As it looks this morning, these storms will likely peter out around Santa Barbara or Ventura. There is a chance that a couple of Troughs could make it this far South, but that’s just too far out in crystal ball land to be sure of anything at this time. We’ll see. *RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Clear skies and gusty NNE winds will be the days forecast. Cold air advection from an area of High pressure in the Great Basin will help to keep temperatures in the mountain communities on the cool side today. You may have noticed some low clouds on the Desert side of the Mountain this morning. These will dissipate as we begin to warm up during the daylight hours. Along the passes, Ridges, and in the canyons, expect gusty NE winds from 10-35mph today. This morning the strongest winds were, as always, at Paivika Ridge with gusty to 41mph from the NE as of 6am. Most of the rest of the weather stations around the area also have a NE flow with winds from 5-10 mph. Temperatures will slowly warm through Monday as the winds die out. High pressure will build to our West and Low pressure will move back into the Great Basin bringing a return of an onshore flow by Monday pm. Tuesday, an inside slider will pass over the Las Vegas area. Locally we will again pick up gusty winds and a slight chance for a shower along with cooler temperatures.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com and a BIG thank you to all who have donated to this website.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
There’s not to much going on with the weather for the next few days. This morning High clouds are streaming overhead from Point Conception to around Long Beach with areas of fog along parts of the Rim and the Coastal side of the local mountains and along the Grapevine. Other than that, it’s pretty clear out there.
..Onshore flow will be in place for the next 24-48 hours as an area of Low pressure slides through the Great Basin to our North and Higher pressure sets up offshore of SoCal. Temperatures will remain about the same for today and Friday.
..Saturday and Sunday we will change to an offshore flow as the pressure builds into the Great Basin behind the departing Low, creating an offshore pressure gradient across the area. Gusty winds will be likely for Saturday and Sunday morning. Temperatures will warm up over the weekend and should top out on Monday.
..Tuesday and Wednesday a weak Trough will pass through top our North bringing a slight chance for sprinkles locally. Most of the rain will stay North of Ventura as it looks this morning.
..On the long range Crystal Ball outlook, around the 5th of April and for the next week or so beyond that, there will be a chance for April showers and possibly a couple of cold systems that will make it to SoCal. FYI, don’t get in a hurry to plant those sensitive outdoor flowers and plants as you know, the weather can turn in a minute and ruin everything before Mothers Day. So don’t let those warm Summer like days fool you! RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Another nice day on tap for the mountains today. High clouds will filter the sunlight keeping temperatures slightly lower than yesterday. Onshore flow will strengthen across the area as a large area of Low pressure currently off of the Pac-NW slowly moves onshore there. A few bands of rain will move through the PAC-NW but the chance for a shower locally is looking pretty slim. Along the Coast and some of the Inland Valleys will see increasing fog and low clouds later today and overnight as the Low moves through the PAC-NW. Tomorrow morning the Marine layer could make it to the Coastal slopes locally keeping temperatures in check and possibly early morning drizzle below.
..Friday we will likely see an offshore flow as the Low moves East to our North setting up an offshore pressure gradient locally as High pressure builds into the Great Basin.
..Saturday through Monday will be the warmest days of the next five as High pressure will be our main weather maker.
..The next chance for rain will arrive around the 5th of April as an inside slider. After that it looks like there will be several chances for storm systems to move through the area. On the long range ECMWF forecast, at the 300mb level, it looks like an East Asian Jet may bring the storm track into SoCal between the 8th and the 12th of April. So don’t get to excited about the nice weather just yet. When the Daffodils bloom, snow is typically just around the corner.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Today will be another nice day across the mountain. Onshore flow will pick up later today with temperatures close to yesterday’s and adding a few high clouds. Off of the Northern West Coast of California and Oregon, a large area of Low pressure has been sitting over the Pacific for several days. This will begin to move onshore later today bringing rain to the West Coast of NorCal later today. As this area of Low pressure moves onshore, it will weaken, so most of the energy will stay North of SoCal. We will pick up some high clouds and a 15% chance for some sprinkles late Wednesday night into Thursday early morning. Midnight to around 7am Thursday will be our best chance. Temperatures will cool off for the next few days as the Low passes through the area. Gusty winds will develop across the area on and off until Friday when a Ridge of High pressure will begin to build over the SoCal region. This will bring much warmer temperatures to all of SoCal for the weekend and into the first part of next week. So it looks like we will close out March like a lamb. Then for April, as it looks this morning, we could see a pattern change one more time for the period of the 5th through around the ~10th. The long range outlook shows a possible change in the pattern to a wet pattern for that time frame. So enjoy the great Spring weather as Mother Nature is not done with us yet!

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Congratulations Cory and Samantha, welcome Jeremiah!
..Todays weather will be a carbon copy of yesterday. Maybe a little warmer. Clear skies and light winds will make for a very nice day today. High pressure over the Eastern Pacific will keep us in Spring like weather through most of Tuesday.
..A deep area of Low pressure to our North will move onshore in NorCal beginning Tuesday, spreading rain and higher elevation snow to the region. As the system slowly moves inland, clouds and cooler temperatures will arrive in SoCal for Wednesday and Thursday. There will be a slight chance for a light shower Wednesday night into Thursday morning, for the local area.
..The biggest impact from this system for our area will be gusty onshore winds and cooler temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday. Locally we may see winds gusting from 15-40mph with higher winds in the wind prone areas.
..Friday we will be clearing out as High pressure rebuilds across the West bringing in much warmer temperatures to the Inland areas. Temps are expected to be from 5-15* warmer than normal with San Bernardino possibly reaching into the low 80s by Sunday and the mid 60s locally.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com and a BIG thank you to all who have donated to this website.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
This morning we have mostly clear skies to start the day. For the next couple of days SoCal will be under a weak Ridge of High pressure. This will bring warmer temperatures by around 5* per day to the mountains, making for very nice weather. Winds will be light and variable as High pressure builds over the area through Tuesday.
..Looking on the longer range outlook, an area of Low pressure will move onshore to our North Tuesday bringing more rain and higher elevation snow to the Northern and Central part of California. As this system moves South toward SoCal, it will weaken and bring a slight chance for rain and snow showers to the higher elevations Wednesday and Thursday before moving East. Friday through the weekend looks pretty good at this time with High pressure again moving over the area. As it looks this morning, we should be able to close out March without to much more in the way of cloudy or wet weather. As always, April will bring a few storm systems through the area, but overall we are on the tail end of the Winter storm series. The Polar Jet Stream is migrating back North as it does this time of year, making way for Spring time and warmer temperatures.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Happy Birthday Michael.
This morning we will start the day with partly cloudy skies and light fog along the Rim. Winds will be from the SW becoming gusty later today, as an area of Low pressure moves Inland across the border of Oregon and California. The trailing Trough from that Low will flatten out around Santa Barbara this afternoon as it moves onshore to our North. Showers will be likely from the Santa Barbara area and North today, with only a few showers possible to the South and along our local mountains later this afternoon. No accumulations are expected other than a trace if that.
..Tomorrow, we will have clearing skies as a transient Ridge moves over SoCal. This will bring an increase in temperatures for Sunday and Monday of around 8-10*. Gusty winds are expected for tomorrow as we transition from one air mass to another. High pressure over the Eastern Pacific along with an area of Low pressure that will move into the Great Basin will be the source region for our Winds. We could see as much as a 14mb pressure gradient between Tonopah Nv, and the Coastal region off of SoCal tomorrow.
..Then things will settle down for Monday and Tuesday with above normal temperatures, mostly clear skies along with light and variable winds.
..For Wednesday and Thursday as it looks this morning, a deep cold core area of Low pressure (534dm this morning) that is currently way offshore over the Pacific, will move over California bringing rain and higher elevation snow to most of the State. The details are sketchy this morning but I thought I would throw that in just as a FYI of what may be ahead. Then as it looks now, next weekend should be a very nice weekend weather wise. So enjoy the variety in the weather as the Jet Stream is migrating back to the North as it does this time of year, and soon we will be in a static weather pattern again.RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Spring got off to a good start with snow, rain, and lots of clouds along with traffic problems around the area. Running Springs and Arrowbear received 3-4″ of fresh snow along with Big Bear, about the same. In the lower elevations I received local reports from Lake Arrowhead and Twin Peaks with 1-2″ of snow and enough in Crestline to cause driving problems. At my location by Lake Gregory, I received about a half inch of snow and .60″ rain.
..Today we will be in a clearing mode as a Transitory Ridge of High pressure moves over SoCal. Currently we have Ridge Fog along the local Hwys so plan a little extra time for that if you are traveling. The sky conditions will clear today along with gusty winds as the pressure builds in from the West and also warmer temperatures today.
..Tomorrow, another area of Low pressure will move Inland across the West but will stay mostly North of our area. We will see increasing SW winds along with increasing clouds and a chance for a shower or snow shower at the higher elevations. No significant accumulations are expected.
..Sunday through mid week, Onshore flow will bring dryer and warmer weather to all of SoCal as High pressure builds offshore.
..On the long range outlook, we may see another cold system arrive around WEdnesday of next week. Details on that will be developing as we get closer to that time.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com and a BIG thank you to all who have donated to this website.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Welcome to the first full day of Spring!
..This morning we have cloudy skies with fog along the Rim and a few light showers across the area. Big Bear and Running Springs have below freezing temps as of 5am so snow flurries will be possible above the 5000′ level this morning along with potentially icy roads.
..Today we will have a mostly cloudy day as a weak wave will move through the area bringing increased chances of rain or snow showers mainly during the afternoon locally. The snow levels for today are expected to remain above the 5000′ level. A few flurries may fall to the 4500′ level this morning before the daytime heating kicks in. Snow and rain accumulations are expected to be light with 1-2″ of snow possible for the higher elevations, and .10-.25″ rain at the lower elevations. Currently at my location at 4600′, a few snow flurries are falling as I write this as of 5am.
..For Friday, we will be in a clearing pattern with partly cloudy skies for most of the day. Temperatures will warm by a few degrees and light and variable winds will be the days forecast.
..Saturday, another weak wave will pass through SoCal. Most of the energy from this system will stay North of SoCal but there will be a 10-15% chance for a random shower. After that passes, we will be under a Ridge of High pressure for a couple days bringing in warmer daytime temperatures and lots of Sun.
..The next chance for rain will be around mid week next week. This system shows signs of AR enhancement at this time. But that is too far out to be sure of anything especially this time of year. So enjoy the weather as we will be slowly transitioning to Spring time weather patterns across all of SoCal and the West.
.. Long term outlooks show continued on and off wet /dry patterns across SoCal well into April.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com and a BIG thank you to all who have donated to this website.
