TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

Today we will see increasing gusty NE winds develop behind a Trough moving East through the area. High pressure will build into the Great Basin creating an offshore pressure gradient across SoCal. Currently, Tonopah is at 1017.4 and San Diego is at 1013.3 @ 4am. This morning an Eddy has formed offshore. This has helped to push the Marine layer Inland from the Coast to the Western edge of the IE. This will be short lived as the NE winds develop pushing the Marine air back offshore later this morning. The winds should peak this afternoon through Wednesday morning along the passes and ridges locally. Then pick up again Thursday morning. Temperatures will be cooler as cold air advection from the North will keep temps down. Wednesday we will be on the threshold of a RED FLAG WARNING as the winds peak, but no warnings have been posted so far. By Friday, we will return to a NW flow across the west with a nice weekend ahead. On the long range outlook, the only thing I see as far as rain goes is around the 11th of November when a deep Trough is forecast to drop down through the SoCal area. Please be careful with any outdoor activities that could cause a spark. RC

Yesterday’s High and Low temperatures were:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

High clouds will continue to stream across the area today from a disturbance off of Baja Ca. Later today things will begin to change as a Trough approaches from the North West. This will bring in cooler temperatures along with gusty SW winds tonight and Tuesday morning. Daytime temperatures will continue to cool as the departing Trough is followed by High pressure filling into the Great Basin, and over the Pacific off of California. Tuesday night through Friday, Winds will turn from SW to the NE as High pressure builds in those areas. Gusty Santa Ana type winds can be expected throughout the next four days. A RED FLAG WARNING may be posted Wednesday as humidity levels and winds enter the critical fire danger levels. Temperatures through the period will be in the mid to upper 60s with overnight lows running from the upper 40s to mid 50s. All of this will pass late Friday as we return to onshore flow and what looks like a zonal upper level flow for a few days. No rain is expected through Nov 5th at this time. TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

This mornings overnight temps were fairly warm for most areas around the mountain. An area of Low pressure to our South off of Baja is pushing warm air and high clouds across the area. This will soon change as a Trough of Low pressure developing off of Northern California takes over the air flow aloft. As the Low moves into the Great Basin and Northern California, onshore flow will increase locally. Cooler temperatures will be the forecast for the next several days as a couple of Troughs move through to our North. Offshore, West of California, High pressure will remain stationary over the Pacific Ocean. Here in SoCal we will be between the two pressure zones. This will produce gusty North East winds beginning Monday night, and lasting on and off through Saturday. For Wednesday, a RED FLAG WARNING may go into effect locally as winds are expected to peak, and Humidity levels will be very low. Saturday we should return to onshore flow with humidity levels returning to more normal levels. For the long range outlook, High Pressure is expected to remain stationary off the Coast through November 6th. So no rain is expected prior to that date.RC

Yesterday’s High and Low temperatures were:

TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

Surface pressure from Tonopah to San Diego continues to flow generally offshore this morning. An area of High pressure running at 588mbs will remain in place today through Sunday morning before slowly moving South East toward Mexico. Temperatures will be slightly warmer today and Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 70s locally. Late Monday the bottom end of a Trough of Low pressure will begin to affect SoCal bringing cooler temperatures and possibly a deeper marine layer briefly. Then for Tuesday, as the Trough departs to the East, North East winds will follow, as High pressure to our West strengthens across the region. Winds are expected to be from 10-25mph as of this mornings models, with surface pressure between Tonopah and the Coast running around 10-12mbs. Gusty winds can be expected along the HWY-395 corridor, I-15 as well as in the canyons, Ridges and passes locally. Temperatures for Tuesday Through Thursday will be cooler due to cool air advection at the higher elevations. Through the period, we will have periods of High clouds passing through making for those nice Sunsets. On the long Range Crystal Ball outlook, the NAO is forecast to go positive and the PNA is forecast to go negative after the first week of November. So if this pans out we could see the beginning of the Winter storm series begin at that time. So enjoy the great Fall weather and get out to see the beautiful Fall colors around the Mountain. That’s it for now. It’s time for me to dust off my winter weather programs. RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

High pressure will increase in the Great Basin today and Saturday topping out at ~588mbs. Surface pressure this morning is 1023.3mb at Tonopah, and 1017.6 at Daggett, 1016.3 in San Diego. Weak Offshore flow will continue for the next 24-48 hours. Temperatures will warm a few degrees across the mountain and in the Valley today and Saturday. Sunday through Tuesday, a Trough of Low pressure will move onshore to our North. We can expect to see cooler temperatures for that time frame. Wednesday, High pressure will expand across the East Pacific slowly moving East toward SoCal. This will bring possible Santa Ana Winds for Wednesday behind the departing Tough. However, temperatures across the mountain will likely remain cool as cold air advection from the North should come into play. Still waiting for some good news for rain but there’s not really any good signs at this time. The system for early November is looking like it will stay North of our area. However, there are hints of a pattern change coming around the 11th of Nov. A dip in the jet stream is shown on the long range 500mb models for the 11th through the 17th with a couple of systems working through the flow. We’ll see. Fingers crossed. That’s it for today. Enjoy the day! RC

TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

Today we again have clear skies across most of SoCal. At the upper levels there is a Northerly flow and at the surface level a weak onshore flow this morning. Daytime temperatures will warm a few degrees through Saturday as a Sub-Tropical area of High pressure nudges it’s way into SoCal. Winds will pick up from the North East as the High replaces an outgoing Trough of low pressure today. Gusty NE winds will be likely at times through Saturday. At this time, it doesn’t look like other than very low humidity, a need for a RED FLAG Warning will be needed. Winds should remain from 10-20mph locally except along the ridges where gusts could reach 25-30mph through Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, Onshore flow will return along with a cooling trend for the next few days as another Trough enters the region from the North. We are still looking at a chance for a system to pass through SoCal during the first week of November. RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

This morning we have clear skies across the IE. Temperatures are Fall like and will continue to be through the week. A weak Trough will pass through SoCal this morning with a Sub-Tropical area of High pressure nudging into the South West beginning tomorrow. Temperatures will rise each day by a few degrees through Saturday. We will be on the Eastern edge of the High which will be centered over the Eastern Pacific. 500MB Heights today are at 580mbs and will begin rising through Saturday when they will top out at ~588mbs. Friday and Saturday will be the warmest days of this week. Then for Sunday, 500mb Heights will begin to drop down as a Trough of Low pressure heads for the West Coast of California. This will bring temperatures down locally as the 500mb Heights will be around 558mb by Tuesday. As this Trough will be cold and fairly strong, we may see some rain from this. But, it’s still too far out to be sure at this time. Winds across the area will be generally from the North to North East through the period. Late in the week we will see a change in the winds becoming Southeasterly, as the High moves out of the area toward the Southeast. High clouds will pass through at times in the days ahead so keep your camera ready for those Sunsets.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

Today will about the same weather wise as yesterday with mostly clear skies and nice temperatures. For the rest of this week we will slowly warm up as High pressure will move over the area tomorrow. We will continue to have a weak offshore flow through the Saturday occasionally turning to the SW. As of 4am there is no fog in the Valley so far. Surface pressures this morning are running weakly offshore with Tonopah at 1015.5mb and San Diego at 1012.9mb. Sunday we will begin to see a weather change as a Trough of Low pressure will begin to affect the SoCal region. Onshore flow will return along with morning clouds and fog early next week. There still looks like a chance for our first winter storm to arrive around the 5th of November. So this is a good time to prepare for Winter driving. Icy roads, chains, etc.

TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

Today we will be at the bottom of a weak Trough moving through SoCal. This will bring an increase in Morning fog to some of the IE as well as continued mild temperatures. North East winds will be light today and we may see a few cumulus clouds around the area however, no rain is expected. Tuesday will be much like today as the trough lifts out of the area. Wednesday through Sunday temperatures will warm up as High pressure builds across the West. Valley temperatures will be into the upper 80s to low 90s Friday at the peak of the warm up. We should see a deeper Trough move into the SoCal region around the 3rd of November with our first chance for a Winter type storm arriving around that time. There will be another trough behind that so somewhere in the first week of November we should see rain. This is in the crystal ball area of long range outlooks but it gives us something to look forward to. Both of these system look like fairly cold systems so there will be a chance for snow at the higher elevations. Again, this is a long way out but it is time to prepare for Winter driving.
