TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
Today, other than an early morning 3.6 Earthquake, all eyes are on Rosa, and how it may affect the local area. Not to much change in the Trajectory from yesterday. We will still be on the left Front Quadrant where the least amount of rain will fall. Later today we should see an increase in Clouds at the upper levels 30k’ plus, as Rosa, now a CAT1 Hurricane weakens to a Tropical Storm. The remnants of Rosa will continue to weaken as it moves to the North East into Arizona and beyond. A Trough of Low pressure will follow just behind Rosa in SoCal bringing increased chances for rain through mid week to the SoCal region. Tomorrow we will have a pretty good chance for some measurable rain locally as the Mountain terrain will help in-train moisture into the local area. We will also continue to have gusty winds across the area as the remnants of Rosa move through. Gusty winds will last through midweek, turning to the NE around Thursday as the trough of Low pressure departs the area. PWAT levels are rising fast. Today we are at 1.32″. We are lacking in lift though, so Thunderstorm activity will be possible, but not to prominent. We will see a better chance later in the week when the cold Front comes through. It looks like this morning that we will have a chance for rain beginning tomorrow afternoon with increasing chances Tuesday and Wednesday. Rainfall amounts will vary, but we can expect to see from .50-1.50″ by Wednesday night if all goes well. The variance is due to the possibility of any Thunderstorm activity that may produce brief heavy downpours. As always check the NWS feed for updates and planning your activities. Have a good day today and enjoy the great Mountain weather.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
Changes are coming!
Today we will have high clouds from 30-40k’ making for good Sunrise and Sunsets. Onshore flow will continue though weak for most of the day. The surface pressure this morning is approx 2-3mbs onshore from the Coast to the Desert. A Trough will move through SoCal later today which will bring a cooling trend along with gusty South West winds, and start a weather pattern change. As the trough approaches gusty winds will develop due to an increase in the surface pressure gradient across the region. For Saturday through early next week, temperatures will cool off quite a bit as a couple of Troughs move through the SoCal Region. Also, Rosa now a CAT4 Hurricane to our South, will make a turn to the North heading toward SoCal as the first Trough passes through to our North. Higher pressure East of Rosa will be the guiding force in the direction Rosa takes. As of this mornings models, Rosa will weaken to a Tropical Storm over the next couple of days and head into the far South Eastern Deserts of SoCal. Most of the energy will go into Arizona. However, a cold Trough of Low pressure will likely draw enough moisture into the SoCal region from the remnants of Rosa to warrant a good chance for showers and or Thundershowers locally from Monday through Wednesday morning. Due to the cold air from the Trough and the warm air from Rosa mixing across the SoCal area we will have plenty of instability to promote showers locally. Sunday we should see a build up of clouds across the area then Monday and Tuesday should be mostly cloudy. I guess I had better dust off my rain gauge! Gusty winds from 10-30mph will be possible especially in the wind prone areas. Depending on how this plays out, we could see upwards of 1-2″ of rain. Fingers crossed!
Enjoy the ever changing Mountain weather. Have a good day today and enjoy the great Mountain weather.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
Today temperatures across the mountain will be close to yesterday’s or maybe a couple degrees warmer. Skies will be clear with light winds from the South West from 5-10mph. An area of Low pressure will move through the NW later today. This will be the beginning of a weather pattern change for all of SoCal. This trough will bring much cooler weather to the Mountains for Friday, and through the weekend. This will also help to slowly deepen the Marine layer as the onshore flow also develops. Temperatures over the weekend will lower by 5-10 degrees locally from what we will have today. A second Trough will arrive Monday-ish. This will likely draw Sub-Tropical moisture into Eastern SoCal Monday through Wednesday from now Hurricane Rosa. This second area of Low pressure will be fairly potent with plenty of cold air as well. When these two air masses meet, there will likely be outbreaks of severe weather including Thunderstorms, rain, possibly heavy, along with gusty winds. As it looks this morning, we will be on the Western side of the remnants of Rosa as an area of Vorticity passes through the flow from the Low pressure system dropping down from the North, Tuesday morning. This is when we will have our best chance for rain locally. Showers will be possible late Monday through Wednesday, as this all passes through. Daytime Temperatures will be in the upper 50s to low 60s early next week with gusty winds up to 25mph at times. As you can see we will have a variety of weather over the next five to seven days. Enjoy the ever changing Mountain weather. Have a good day today and enjoy the great Mountain weather.

TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
There will likely be a wide variety of weather coming our way over the next seven days.
We will continue to be in a blocking pattern through Thursday. This will allow High pressure to our south, to expand over SoCal today bringing in warmer temperatures today and Thursday. We may see a brief period of light NE Winds today helping with the warming trend. Then on Friday, a fairly cold Trough of low pressure will move onshore across the PAC-NW. This will bring a return of a SW flow across SoCal, much cooler temperatures, and a deepening Marine layer through the weekend. Meanwhile, what will become a major Hurricane, Rosa, will track Northward off of the Baja coast. Rosa will wind down late in the weekend but continue in a Northerly, then Westerly direction into the Southern Deserts and Arizona. By Monday, we should see some effects from the combination of an area of Low pressure to our North, and the remnants of Rosa locally. Monday through Thursday there will be a possibility of rain and or Thunderstorms from the local mountains to Arizona, and Durango Colorado Dan, as of this mornings 5 Day model forecast. Also we could see some strong and gusty winds associated with this weather system beginning Saturday night and through the period. With the exceptionally warm Sea Surface Temperatures (SST’s) ~80* off of San Diego, it will be interesting to see how this will play out. The current models are having a hard time with the exact track of Rosa considering the arrival of the Trough from the North at about the same time, and how that will affect where the Tropical moisture ends up. Have a good day today and enjoy the great Mountain weather.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
This morning we have onshore flow along with a weak Marine layer (light fog) moving into the IE. Today will be about the same as yesterday as far a temperatures go. There will be a NE winds develop later today as High pressure builds across most of California. Temperatures will be on the rise through Thursday as High pressure takes hold locally. A Low level area of Low pressure will help to spin up gusty NE winds tonight and Wednesday, then returning to the SE through Friday. The weekend will be cooler a closed Low that has been sitting offshore, moves through NorCal. This will bring cooler temperatures, and gusty SW winds along with a deeper Marine layer to SoCal. Then things get interesting. The current models show a Tropical System moving North along Baja early next week. Also a Trough is forecast to slide South along the West Coast with the two meeting over SoCal. Monday through Thursday it looks like we will have several chances for some precipitation locally as the Tropical Storm moves through Monday/Tuesday and a Trough follows Wednesday. So hopefully this will come to fruition. Keep your fingers crossed. We do need the rain.

Today our weather will be influenced by a weak Trough of low pressure passing to our North. Temperatures will be cool today with mostly clear skies and variable winds through the day. As this Trough moves East tomorrow, High pressure will build across the West. We will pick up a North East wind along with warmer temperatures through Thursday. Wednesday and Thursday the Crestline and Lake Arrowhead areas will likely see daytime highs in the low to mid 80s. Then Friday may be the beginning of some significant changes in our weather. The Cut Off Low that has been sitting offshore will begin to move Inland across NorCal. As it does we will see temperatures begin to cool Friday through the weekend. Morning clouds and fog will develop possibly moving into the Inland areas during the morning hours as well. Meanwhile, early next week there are a couple of Tropical systems that are forecast to move North along the Baja Coast heading into the San Diego and Desert Southwest. As of this morning the models show a significant rain event for the SW Desert and the San Bernardino Mountain areas for Oct 2/3. So with fingers crossed, we may see some precipitation to begin the month of October.

HAPPY 33rd BIRTHDAY, RYAN!
We started the day off with a nice Sunrise due to a few clouds that were passing through this morning. Skies are now clear and should remain that way for the next few days. The Surface pressure from Tonopah to San Diego is pretty much neutral this morning, but out in the lower Desert area, the surface pressure is lower which will draw in a South West flow across the area. There’s kind of a busy pattern going on in the West. Currently a Trough is moving through the upper NW helping to keep us cool here. This will move East by late Monday when we will pick up a brief NE flow across the local area for Tuesday. Meanwhile, High pressure will develop offshore of the PAC-NW, while a Cut Off Low will form just below it off of SoCal. High pressure to our Southeast, and to our North West, will join around Wednesday which will result in warmer temperatures for the SoCal region through Friday. Then the Cut Off Low will move through Northern Ca over the weekend, while two dying Tropical Storms move North along the West Coast of Baja around Oct 1st. Whew! Oct 2nd, we will have another trough moving through Ca, while the first of the two Tropical systems will be off of Northern Baja. This is where things may get a little interesting. So we will have to wait and see how this pans out. Hoping this will generate some moisture for our area. Fingers crossed! Have a nice day and enjoy the real first day of FALL. RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
Another nice day to start FALL off. Today there is a pretty much neutral pressure gradient across all of SoCal to the Desert region. There will be some Tropical Moisture flow into the lower Deserts again today with a very slight chance for a Thunderstorm near the San Jacinto mountain and adjacent areas. Clear skies will be the forecast for the local area with light and variable winds today. Temperatures will be much the same as what we saw yesterday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s across the mountain. A nice day for outdoor activities. Overnight lows will run from the low 40s in Big Bear to the upper 50s to mid 60s in the Crestline and Lake Arrowhead areas. Today should be the warmest day of the next five days, as a Trough of low pressure will slide West to East across the Northern part of the West Coast. SoCal will be at the bottom of this Trough. This will bring cooling trend to the area through Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday, High pressure will return with slightly warmer temperatures returning at that time. Wednesday and Thursday we may see a weak Santa Ana develop as the Trough passes and Higher pressure rebuilds across the area. At this time, there is no rain in the five day outlook. However, there is a Cut-Off Low developing to our West out over the Pacific. The Cut-Off Low is expected to remain stationary through the end of September. This will come into play toward the end of the month or beginning of October when a couple of Tropical Disturbances move North parallel to Baja CA. RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
Not much change in our weather for the next couple of days. We will continue to be in the middle of two pressure zones. A Trough to our North, and High pressure to our Southeast. Daytime temps will warm a little over the next couple days then cool again Sunday. We may pick up a few clouds across the area as moisture from the South filters into the area today, and tomorrow. Monday, as the Trough to our North moves East, we should see a weak Northeast flow across the area through Wednesday or Thursday. A Cut Off Low looks like it will set up off of the West Coast late next week, so it will interesting to see what that does. On the Crystal Ball Outlook, there will be a couple of opportunities for some moisture after the first of October. One from a dying Hurricane from the South, and also from a couple of Troughs in the Northwest moving through the flow. Have a good day and enjoy the last full day of Summer. RC

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Good Morning.
This morning we should see a brief period of weak NE winds across the area as a Trough passes to our North. South West flow will return by this afternoon or evening. We will return to a mostly Zonal flow through Sunday with a slight warm up for Friday through Sunday, as a Subtropical Ridge will build to our South. Moisture from the Gulf of California, or Sea of Cortez, whichever you prefer, will move into the Desert areas today. We may pick up some clouds across the top of the mountain this afternoon as a result, but that is about it. Most of the moisture and or Thunderstorm activity will stay from the Colorado River, and East from there into Arizona and New Mexico. Another Trough will begin to affect our area Monday with increasing SW winds and cooler temperatures for Monday through Wednesday of next week.
