TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
The weather pattern across SoCal will continue to be the same as it has been with only minor variations. We will have Clear skies with a few high clouds along with variable winds, mostly from the South West, becoming Northerly during the afternoon hours. Gusty winds will be likely from 5-15mph during the afternoon. High pressure to our South West, and a weak Trough to our North, will help to keep us in a mostly Zonal flow through early next week. Temperatures will also remain about the same with only minor differences. To our south, Hurricane Norman at a CAT4 this morning will continue to head out toward the Central Eastern Pacific with no effect on any land mass. Another Tropical disturbance will continue to develop most likely into another Hurricane in the next couple of days. The forecast track for this one will take it out to sea as well. As we close out August and head into September, we also head into the peak of Fire Season. So as always here in the Mountains, be sure to be Fire Safe at all times. One spark can turn into a nightmare. Please be careful.
Today’s FIRE DANGER level remains VERY HIGH. Have a good day! RC

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
There will be only a couple of slight changes on the weather over the next few days. A Subtropical High will move from East to West across SoCal over the next two days. This will bring slightly warmer temperatures to the area for Thursday through Saturday. For the Coastal areas, we will continue the SW flow with the Marine layer trying to push further Inland during the morning hours. A trough of Low pressure will ride through the PAC-NW Friday, this will bring cooler temperatures here for Sunday and beyond. Also we may see a brief wind shift to the NE Sunday, as the trough passes just North of the area. Behind the departing trough, cooler temperatures will return for early next week. On the long range crystal ball outlook, we may see a return of Monsoon Moisture with Thunderstorms to the area around the 15th. Other than that, temperatures will slowly cool overall as Fall approaches.

The weather pattern over the west will remain pretty much the same with few exceptions for the next five days. High pressure over the South Eastern part of the Country will slowly expand West beginning today. This will bring in a few degrees of warming locally. A few high clouds will pass through from the West today. Winds will be light and mostly from the Southwest through the period. To our north, a trough of low pressure will pass through late in the weekend that will bring a cooling trend locally. Winds will change from the SW to the North briefly sometime Sunday or Monday as the trough passes through. At this time, no rain is expected from this system as it is a very weak system. There are a couple of Tropical Storms to our South, but they are expected to head out into the Eastern Pacific where they will die out. So there are really no significant changes in the forecast other than a slight warm up. Night and morning clouds and fog can be expected along the Coastal areas.
Today’s FIRE DANGER level remains VERY HIGH. Have a good day! RC

Good Morning.
Not much change in the weather pattern for today. Temperatures will warm a couple degrees from yesterday and we will add a few high clouds from the West. Light winds from the SW as we continue to be in the middle of an area of High to our Southeast and Low pressure to our Northwest. 500mb heights are running around 588mbs today and will increase Wednesday through Saturday to around 591mbs, which will give us an increase in daytime temperatures. Locally daytime highs will extend into the upper 70s to low 80s by Thursday. Good overnight recovery for temps as the lows will continue to run from the upper 40s to low 50s at the higher elevations, to the low to mid 60s for the Crestline and Lake Arrowhead areas. There are a couple of Tropical disturbances to our South that will have no effect on our weather over the next three to five days. Enjoy the clear skies and slightly Fall like weather. TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
There will be very little change in our weather through Thursday. High pressure to our Southeast across the bottom of the Country, and a trough of Low pressure to our North will keep us in a dry Southwest flow through mid week. Temperatures will remain as they have been with daytime highs in the upper 70s to 80*, and overnight lows from the mid 40s in Big Bear to the upper 50s to low 60s in the Arrowhead and Crestline areas. SW winds will become gusty at times in the afternoon hours, and very low humidity levels will increase the Fire Danger. PWAT levels that have been in the 1.00-1.50″ range for the last few weeks, are now at .51″ this morning. This is due to the absence of the Monsoonal flow. On the long range outlook, temperatures will warm a few degrees late in the week as the 500mb pressure increases across SoCal. A couple of potential Hurricanes will develop to our South but it doesn’t look like they will have any effect on our weather in the near term. Enjoy the clear skies and slightly Fall like weather. Have a good day! RC

TODAY’S FORECAST GRAPHICS:

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

It’s feeling a lot like Fall, outside this morning. Not much change in the weeks forecast from what we have today. Temperatures will continue to be very mild almost cool considering what we have had from the last couple of months. Daytime highs will be in the upper 70s to maybe 80*, with overnight lows in the upper 50s to low 60s, except the higher elevations where overnight lows will fall into the 40s! Nice! Across SoCal, the weather pattern will remain stagnant as High pressure to our South East remains in place and Low pressure to the North West does the same. Here we will be in a nice South West flow pattern through the week. Low clouds will move Inland during the early morning hours leaving hazy skies for the Valleys during the afternoon hours. This morning fog has moved into the IE up against the bottom of the mountain to the 1500′ level. This will clear out quick as the day warms up. Upper level pressure will rise around Wednesday which will bring in slightly warmer temperatures to the area. Then cool for the weekend as August gives way to September. September will bring some weather changes to the area with cooler weather and better chances for precipitation. Also increased Fire Danger as troughs typically pass to the North and the Santa Ana winds follow.

Yesterday’s High and Low temperatures were:
Crestline-80-62*, Twin Peaks-79/59*, Lake Arrowhead-78/60*, Running Springs-78/57*, Big Bear-77/44*, San Bernardino-91/62*.

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

I have posted the latest video update by on the status of Hurricane Lane. As well as a live streaming cam from Honolulu at the bottom of this webpage. (www.lakegregoryweather.com)
Also at lakegregoryweather.com/el-nino-info-2/ is the latest El Nino forecast.
We will continue to enjoy very nice weather for all of the mountain communities through Tuesday of next week. Onshore flow will bring the marine layer into the Valley’s
with light fog in the morning along with hazy afternoon conditions there. For the mountains, clear skies with a few high level clouds from time to time will be the forecast through Tuesday. The 500mb pressure is at ~588dm today, and will remain at that pressure for the next few days. Wednesday we will see an increase in the 500mb pressure to around 594dm which will help to bring in warmer temperatures for Wednesday through Friday of next week. However, this will not be a return of a prolonged heat wave, just a short increase in daytime temperatures. Also at this time there doesn’t appear to be a return of the Monsoonal flow to our area as temperatures rise next week. Then a cooling trend will return for the weekend as September arrives.
There are a couple of graphics below (website) that show the current conditions of Lane.

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.

I have posted the latest video update by Levi Cowan on the status of Hurricane Lane. As well as a live streaming cam from Honolulu at the bottom of this webpage. (www.lakegregoryweather.com)
Also at lakegregoryweather.com/el-nino-info-2/ is the latest El Nino forecast.
Mild weather will continue to be the forecast through the weekend and into next week. Onshore flow across all of SoCal along with late night and morning fog and low clouds along the Coastal regions will stay in place as well. Today on the local level, we will see high clouds filter through the area locally, with a SW breeze from 5-10mph. Daytime temperatures will run from 75-82* for the Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, and Twin Peaks areas. Big Bear, Green Valley Lake, and Running Springs will be a little cooler with daytime highs in the 73-78* range. Overnight lows will run from the mid 60s locally to the upper 40s to low 50s for the higher elevations. This pattern will likely remain in place through the end of August with very little change. Troughing across the North West will be the governing factor in our weather for the foreseeable future. The only active Hurricane, Lane, is wreaking havoc on Hawaii and the surrounding Islands. While the exact track is still up in the air, Honolulu looks to be a focus point this morning. I have run some models this morning and Honolulu may be in the direct path before Lane makes a turn West. We’ll see. Which ever way this turns out, the whole area will continue to receive lots of rain and wind. Keep those folks in your thoughts.
There are a couple of graphics below (website) that show the current conditions of Lane.

Good Morning.

Also at lakegregoryweather.com/el-nino-info-2/ is the latest El Nino forecast.
Today we will continue to see very nice weather across the mountain. Winds will be light and variable mostly from the West, Southwest @ 5-10mph with clear skies. Fall weather is creeping into the area. Troughing across the North West is helping to bring in cooler weather as well as strengthening the SW flow at the surface and aloft. Temperatures will slowly cool through the days ahead as well as a deepening Marine layer. This morning fog and low clouds have made into the Riverside area and will continue to creep further Inland each day through the period. The Monsoon is in Arizona and New Mexico as the area of High pressure that drives it has moved East toward Texas. This weather pattern looks like it will stay in place through the end of the month. On the long range models, it looks like September may start off with a couple of changes. A deep Trough of low pressure is forecast to drop south along the West Coast all the way to SoCal. This will surely bring in much cooler Fall like Weather. Then around the 4th, there may be a Tropical storm move North along the Baja Coast and bring another chance for a change in the weather locally.
Today, Hurricane Lane is heading toward Hawaii. Currently Lane ia a CAT4 Hurricane, but the central pressure has risen from 934mb yesterday, to 949mb this morning. So as Lane moves toward the Hawaiian Islands it is weakening slowly. Good News for Hawaii.

I have posted a video update by Levi Cowan on the status of Hurricane Lane. As well as a live streaming cam from Honolulu at the bottom of this webpage. (www.lakegregoryweather.com)
Clear skies and comfortable temperatures will be the forecast for the next several days. Low pressure to our South West along with High pressure over Texas will keep us in a SW flow through the weekend. The humidity levels will also slowly lower as the monsoon moves East. So we should see several very nice days ahead. During the afternoon and early evening there will be a chance for gusty winds across the area from 5-15mph. Fog and low clouds will slowly increase each day with the marine layer possibly making it to the IE during the morning hours.
On the long range outlook, we could see one more blast of Monsoonal Moisture for the first of September with possibly widespread rain across most, if not all of the area. Fingers crossed for that one. Also Hurricane Lane is headed for the Hawaiian Islands this morning. Currently at CAT4, but is expected to weaken some in the next 24hours.
