TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

..Good Morning.
..As expected, snow and rain, moved through the area yesterday and overnight. There was a concentration of snow from Skyforest to the West side of Big Bear where 3-6″ of snow fell. Crestline received ~2″ at the Lake level, Twin Peaks received ~4″, Lake Arrowhead ~4″, Running Springs 3-5″, Big Bear 2-4″.
..This morning strong gusty NE winds ( 15-35mph) are blowing across the area as the Northern portion of the Low moves through Northern Baja. Wrap around moisture will continue the chance for snow showers throughout most of the day today. Fog along the Rim will be a problem for driving as well as strong gusty winds so please use caution if you are out and about today.
..All of this will move East by late this afternoon taking the chances for random showers with it. Looking at the Sat Pics this morning, it looks like there will be one more band of showers move through before the clearing really begins.
..The winds will wind down this afternoon but may resurface tomorrow morning, before really settling down for the rest of the week. Northerly flow will continue through the work week but the winds will be mostly light.
..Wednesday through Saturday temperatures will warm back up to slightly above normal for this time of year.
..For the weekend, another area of Low pressure will slide down along the Coast for Saturday and Sunday of next weekend. This system doesn’t look like much at this time.
..Now for the long range outlook. There is a growing consensus that a pattern change will begin around the 9th of March for our area. The long range outlook from the Climate Prediction Center shows a wet pattern developing for the West Coast of California. With fingers crossed, we may see something of a March miracle for the middle of the month. Currently we are WAY behind last years rainfall totals. An Atmospheric enhanced period of wet weather would be a big help to our so far very dry year here in California, North and South.
..Have a good day, and thanks for joining me at lakegregoryweather.com. RC*
